Lately I have been determined to prepare more nutritious meals. I have come across some amazingly yummy recipes with great results. This has been the result of my parents getting older and I am now responsible for their balanced diet.
But as you can see from the above picture, I have had a few special recipes that I have attempted. After two trips to Pullman, where we have enjoyed wonderful meals at a restaurant called "Southfork," my mom was having a hankoring for creme brulee. She purchased a cooking torch (which could be very dangerous for me) and fuel so that I could crisp the tops.
My resource was simply "Creme Brulee" and the queen came up. (The queen of Creme Brulee, that is!) I carefully followed the basic recipe, and TaDa!!! We had a lovely Sunday dinner (homemade Manhattan Clam Chowder) and luscious creme brulee! Yum. I think I'm hungry. . . gotta go!

Matthew
Today I am thinking about our son, Matt. It's been three long years since he joined the army. On Bloomsday of 2007, I was walking and worried that I had not heard from him. When I got home there was a message that he was already on his way to California to see his recruiter he knew in high school and join the army.
Although honorable, I'm sure every parent would understand the dismay I felt on that day. It tore me apart to know that he would soon be heading to the middle east. Unsettling is an understatement.
Now, three years later, with Matthew due to come through Spokane at the end of August, I am proud and relieved to be welcoming him. It will be so wonderful to have our family together again! Matthew will be in Spokane for about a week, then he and Sarah will be moving to Las Vegas together to go to school and help support one another. I told them that I will not be visiting in the summer, but a winter vacation there sounds great!!! God be praised for a safe return. I am grateful!

New Blog: Daily Musings
I've decided I need somewhere to write daily, even though I may not have pictures to accompany my writing. My desire is to have a daily entry with interesting photos, but realize that this will be a process for me. Today I want to commit to documenting the big things and small things in my life. I often wonder about my ancestors daily doings and thoughts. Having access to their lives would only add to my own, and so, I hope to share my life with anyone else who may be interested. (Hopefully Daniel and future others!)
So today is a pretty routine day. Up and showered, dishes and laundry, showering mom (Doris) and taking dad (Howard) for a cancer recheck at the doctor. Somewhere in there is breakfast and lunch. Then it's off to work this afternoon for a bit of teaching. That's life ~ (for me @ least)!
